Kureyon Hat
Lately I have not done much quilting or even sewing, I've been (gasp!) knitting. I must admit that I haven't knit for years, but participating in a prayer shawl ministry last summer inspired me to take up the needles again. So all the menfolk in the family got knitted toques for Christmas, and my kitchen got new dishcloths, and now there's a sweater on my wish list.
Here's the hat I made for myself. The pattern is from Jean Wong. When I saw the hat made up at my my local yarn store (Wool and Wicker, Richmond) I fell in love with the design and with the Noru Kureyon multicoloured yarn, so home it had to come! Jean also sells the pattern through her website.
The hat has an intriguing design, as it is knit on the diagonal, with rows becoming shorter and shorter, and then picking up stitches again for the crown portion. At the beginning it was looking less like a hat and more like a ??? but after a few more rows it settled into it's intended shape. I did add i-cord as my selvedge edges were'nt too neat. I definitely want to make another one in a different colour scheme, this time paying more attention to my selvedges. I really love it, especially the interlocking sections at the crown, I wore it lots this past winter and got lots of nice comments about the pattern.
